Canelé is a French pastry with a caramelized crust and a soft, custardy interior, flavored with vanilla and rum.
Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Grease canelé molds thoroughly.
In a saucepan, heat milk, sugar, and butter until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, egg, egg yolk, rum, vanilla extract, and salt.
Gradually add milk mixture to flour mixture, whisking until smooth.
Pour batter into prepared molds and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until dark brown and caramelized.
Let cool before removing from molds.
