Crème Brûlée
Crème Brûlée is a classic French dessert consisting of a rich custard topped with a layer of caramelized sugar. It’s elegant and indulgent, often served as a special treat.
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Place ramekins in a baking dish.
Step 2
In a saucepan, heat cream and vanilla bean over medium heat until just boiling. Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes.
Step 3
In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick.
Step 4
Gradually add hot cream to egg mixture, whisking constantly.
Step 5
Strain mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher. Pour custard into ramekins.
Step 6
Add hot water to the baking dish to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
Step 7
Bake for 35-40 minutes, until custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
Step 8
Cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Sprinkle with brown sugar and caramelize with a torch before serving.
