Preparation
Step 1
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes.

In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add yeast mixture and warm water, and knead until dough forms.
Step 4
Shape dough into a rectangle, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Step 5
Roll out dough into a large rectangle. Fold dough into thirds, then roll out again. Repeat folding and rolling 3-4 times.
Step 6
Cut dough into triangles and roll up from the wide end. Shape into crescents and place on a baking sheet.
Step 7
Brush with beaten egg and let rise for 30 minutes.
Step 8
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
