Flan is a creamy caramel custard dessert with a smooth, silky texture. It's topped with a rich caramel sauce that adds a sweet, caramelized flavor.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small saucepan, melt sugar over medium heat until golden brown. Pour caramel into the bottom of a flan dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
Pour the milk mixture over the caramel in the dish.
Place the flan dish in a larger baking pan filled with hot water. Bake for 50-60 minutes until set.
Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours. To serve, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate.
