Irish Soda Bread
Irish Soda Bread is a traditional bread made with baking soda instead of yeast. It has a dense, hearty texture and a slightly tangy flavor from buttermilk.
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan.
Step 2
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
Step 3
Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk and egg. Add to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Step 5
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
