Naan
Naan is a soft and pillowy Indian flatbread, traditionally baked in a tandoor oven.
Preparation
Step 1
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
Step 2
In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture, yogurt, and melted butter. Knead until smooth and elastic.
Step 3
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, until doubled in size.
Step 4
Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Divide dough into balls and roll out into rounds.
Step 5
Cook each naan on the skillet for 1-2 minutes on each side, until puffed and golden.
Step 6
Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cilantro if desired.
