Red Beans and Rice
Red Beans and Rice is a flavorful dish made with red beans, rice, and often seasoned with sausage or ham.
Preparation
Step 1
Soak beans overnight in water. Drain and rinse.
Step 2
In a large pot, cook sausage until browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 3
In the same pot, cook onions, bell pepper, and garlic until soft. Add beans, chicken broth, bay leaf, and thyme.
Step 4
Simmer for 1-2 hours until beans are tender. Stir in sausage.
Step 5
Serve over cooked rice.
