Seven tables, twenty seats, and a room dark enough that the candles matter — 13 Gypsies has served Spanish tapas on a Riverside corner without ever quite joining the internet. Chef Kevan Kimball's kitchen cures its own meats and makes its own bread, ricotta, chorizo and pasta: gambas al ajillo, papas arrugadas with mojo verde, albondigas, mushrooms Sevilla in cream sherry, escalivada, gnudi, cappellacci, and a risotto that changes daily. Tres leches closes it. Open Tuesday through Saturday from five, no pretense, corkage if you bring your own bottle. Book by phone — no app will help. Worth the effort.
