ABC PIZZA HOUSE – Italian
The ABC Pizza House on West Hillsborough Avenue has fed the Wellswood side of Tampa since February 1976, a family kitchen with Greek roots and a Connecticut pizzeria lineage running back to 1966. Recipes were handed down, not reinvented, which is the point. Dough is made in-house, so the thin-crust pies land crisp: house special with ground meat and sausage, meat lover's, a white gourmet with garlic butter. Add a Greek salad heavy with feta, a gyro platter or grinder, spaghetti and the Italian dinners. Doors open at eleven daily. Diners talk about value and welcome. Fifty years, still counting.
