AMY'S ON THE AVENUE – Restaurant

Downtown Crystal River, on North Citrus Avenue: part bakery, part bistro, part boutique, in the space locals knew as Hearth & Home and Cafe on the Avenue. Mornings are for espresso, cappuccino and flavored coffees with something handmade from the pastry case. Midday the kitchen turns out hand-crafted soups, salads and sandwiches, shrimp and grits finished with bacon, and a crab bisque that regulars order without reading the menu. Tapas, wine and beer round it out, and the dessert and chocolate counter is its own reason to visit. Tuesday to Saturday, nine until four. Browse the shelves while you wait.
