Charcoal is the centre of gravity at this Collins Avenue dining room, where Armenian cooking is given a polished, modern setting and a wine and cognac list to match. The grill turns out beef lula kebab, lamb shish kebab, chicken tapaka, jumbo shrimp skewers, Mediterranean seabass and a mixed meat platter. Before that come khachapuri and its Adjarian boat, khinkali dumplings, Armenian manti, grape leaf tolma, kibbeh and lahmajoun; the cold table runs to basturma, muhammara, baba ghanoush and braised beef tongue. Kharcho, solyanka and ukha cover the soups. Pakhlava, medovik and Napoleon finish. There is live music most nights.
