ARMANI'S CUCINA – Italian
Tucked into historic downtown Vero Beach, Armani's Cucina is a mother-and-daughter Italian kitchen founded by Angelina Poggi, dressed in warm Italian trim and busy from late morning onward. Pasta is the reason to come: housemade pear and gorgonzola fiocchi in alfredo finished with truffle oil, bolognese, shrimp scampi, zuppa di pesce. Start with warm garlicky knots, baked asiago bread, baked oyster and brie, or cold cannellini beans under warm grilled octopus. Diners repeat two things, that the pasta tastes made rather than bought, and that the pricing is fair for the cooking. A date-night room, without any of the theatrics.
