Washington Avenue at dusk, when the blue-shuttered dining room fills and the saganaki goes up in flame. Athena works a Greek-Mediterranean menu across small plates and serious mains: hummus with zhug and za'atar, roasted beets with sesame sauce and pistachios, grilled octopus, crispy zucchini and eggplant with muhammara, oven-baked pita topped with beef, pomegranate and lemon tahini. Then lamb chops, moussaka, whole Mediterranean seabass, branzino baked in salt. Tuna tartare and ceviche open things lightly. Diners consistently praise the freshness of the seafood and the warm, unfussy service. Cocktails lean Greek: ouzo martini, mastiha margarita. Dinner only, from five o'clock.
