Miami Gardens has one Ethiopian address regulars treat as the default, and it has been on NW 2nd Avenue since 2017. Awash is casual and warm, hung with Ethiopian art, traditional music playing, a small counter selling rare spices, coffee and tea, and a bar pouring imported Ethiopian beer and wine. Meals are eaten by hand, scooped with injera. Doro wot, kitfo, special tibs and zilzil wot anchor the meat side; split peas, red lentils, collards, cabbage and beets the vegetarian one. Sambusas to start; the Taste of Awash platter if choosing feels impossible. Closed Mondays, otherwise open until evening.
