Beverly Grove well after dark, a DJ on Thursdays and Saturdays, and a kosher kitchen cooking with real ambition. Basbussa runs Middle Eastern and Israeli food through a modern filter: Moroccan cigars stuffed with short rib, crispy cauliflower in sweet cayenne with lemon cream, tempura artichoke hearts, fattoush layered over tahini. Flatbreads carry chicken shawarma with amba, spicy merguez, or short rib under truffle aioli. Mains hold kebabs of house-ground beef and lamb, schnitzel, steak pargit, ribeye and lamb chops. A raw bar of tuna tartare and albacore sashimi runs alongside. Doors open at six; the room gets louder late.
