Blue Tavern sits on North Monroe in Midtown Tallahassee, part bar, part coffeehouse, part listening room, and it has never pretended to be anything tidier. The kitchen runs until around nine: filé gumbo with andouille and chicken, red beans and rice, the gluten-free vegan Valence Street soup of tahini, peanut, ginger and tofu, a pressed Cuban built on house mojo pork, the panko-baked eggplant Capri Sammy, and a Victory Garden wrap. Guinness pours on draft alongside wine, coffee and tea. Tuesday is Blues Day; open mics, poetry, film and touring players fill the rest. Evenings only, from Tuesday through Saturday.
