Borekas Sephardic Pastries brought its Israeli-style pastry counter to Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, with parking and outdoor seating for anyone unwilling to wait until they get home. The format does not change: an oblong boureka, baked long and cut into slices, filled with feta and spinach, mushroom and truffle, ricotta and za'atar, or brown butter and potato. A hard-boiled egg, pickles, tomato pulp and red schug arrive in the same box, and mashing them together is rather the point. The kitchen is kosher, closed on Saturdays, and takes orders online or by phone. Warm, buttery, and worth the detour.
