BREAKFAST COTTAGE – Restaurant

A small daytime room on North Tamiami Trail in Nokomis, open seven days from half past seven until two. Pancakes are the house recipe and get dressed up: blueberry lemon ricotta, island cakes with coconut, grilled pineapple and macadamia, cinnamon swirl, bacon and chocolate chip. Omelettes climb from a Tuscan of pesto goat cheese, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes to a Key West of lobster and shrimp under hollandaise, and the benedicts follow the same ladder. Lunch brings a French dip on baguette, a traditional Reuben and a cherry cashew chicken salad. Diners here repeatedly single out the thick-cut French toast.
