A Cuban breakfast counter on Northwest 64th Street, open from half past six in the morning and finished by four in the afternoon. The plates are the old-school kind: a continental breakfast of fried or scrambled egg with ham or link sausage, potatoes or hash browns, toast and coffee with milk; a Desayuno Feroz of beef steak or chicken breast with eggs and rice. Empanadas, ham croquettes and tamales wait by the register. Cuban and media noche sandwiches press to order, juices are squeezed fresh, and flan de coco closes it. Nothing fancy, priced kindly, fast on a workday morning.
