The line on North Orange Avenue forms early, and it forms for laminated pastry. Buttermilk Bakery works in small batches out of Winter Park: croissants folded and rolled in house, sourdough with a dark crust and real tang, and daytime plates built on that bread and plenty of eggs. The morning bun, croissant dough laced with cardamom, orange zest and brown sugar, is the one people name first, alongside housemade pop tarts, hazelnut croissants, cream cheese danish, and savoury turns such as ham and cheese or mortadella with hot honey. Open Wednesday through Sunday, mornings only until two. Arrive early.
