CAMINO PUNTO – Restaurant

Licensed as Camino Punto and trading as Waypoint, this US 41 roadhouse north of Palmetto promises local beer, fresh food and live music, and delivers all three. The smoked fish spread uses Redington Beach mahi-mahi cut with celery, carrot and jalapeno. The rice bowls, the ones actually called Camino Punto, layer steak, shrimp, carnitas or chicken over yellow rice, black beans, cheddar-jack and mango salsa. Personal pizzas are built on ten-inch tortillas, brussels sprouts come tempura-battered with teriyaki, and the fish taco arrives under mexi-style cabbage slaw. Saturdays bring a local market. The kitchen closes early, and Mondays are dark.
