Northern Lebanese cooking in a Wickham Road plaza on Melbourne's north side, Cedar's Cafe keeps a short week — Tuesday through Saturday, midday into the early evening — and cooks with unusual care for the format. Mezze anchors the table: hummus, baba ghanoush, tzatziki, falafel, cheese rolls, grape leaves, and a mushroom hummus built on locally grown fungi. Salads run tabouli, fatoush and Greek, with shawarma or grilled chicken piled on the larger plates. Entrees bring shish taouk, lamb and beef skewers, kafta, baked kibbeh and a mixed grill. Chef's tables and a tasting menu run later into the evening.
