Chaikhana – Restaurant

Chaikhana 7:40 is a glatt kosher Bukharian and Uzbek cafe on Booth Street in Rego Park, and the tandoor is the centre of it. Lepyoshka comes out round and sesame-crusted; samsa is baked to order in lamb, beef or pumpkin, plus a version on the bone. Soups run to beef and lamb shurpa, lagman and shurpa dumplings. Plov arrives traditional or as bakhsh, green with coriander, parsley and dill. Kebabs cover lola, lamb chops, chicken tabaka and grilled branzino. Salads include achik chuchuk and morkovcha. Manti and jiz biz sit on the special-order list. Doors open at seven each morning.
