CHICAGO STYLE JIBARITO & BEEF – Restaurant
A Puerto Rican and Chicago mash-up working out of a Wynwood food garden, running late into Friday and Saturday nights. The jibarito is the whole point: steak, pork or chicken pressed between two fried green plantains where the bread should be. Around it sit mofongo, plain or fried, alcapurrias, salchipapa, beef empanadas and a pizza empanada, plus bistec encebollado and pernil dinners. The Chicago half brings pan de res, the Italian beef sandwich, Chicago-style hot dogs, smash burgers and party wings with fries. Portions here are built for sharing. Two food cities, one counter, no interest in choosing between them.
