CUBA LIBRE – Spanish
Pointe Orlando's Cuba Libre builds a Havana streetscape indoors: open-air rooms, vintage detail, Latin music and a rum list that gets its own month every August. Founding chef Guillermo Pernot's menu opens with Mama Amelia's empanadas, Dragon Street meatballs out of Havana's Chinatown, yuca tostones and a basket of ham, cheese and chicken croquetas. Entrees hold to the classics done carefully, ropa vieja, vaca frita, lechon asado, churrasco a la Cubana, ribeye a la criolla. Weekend brunch runs from midday, a live band plays Fridays, DJs take Saturdays late. Mondays bring an all-you-can-eat pork feast supporting a Cuban democracy movement.
