Clearwater's oldest ice cream counter still trades from the original prefabricated building put up on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard in 1953, and the formula has barely moved since. Vanilla, chocolate or swirl soft serve goes into cake cones, waffle cones, dipped waffle bowls, sundaes and banana splits scaled from a cup to a Monster XL. Shakes and malts run through nearly twenty flavours; Kandy Kurls fold in Oreos, Andes mints, Fruity Pebbles or cookie dough. Kurly's Italian ice rotates eight flavours weekly and blends into gelati. Root beer floats, coffee, hot chocolate. A second counter now trades on Safety Harbor's Main Street.
