Dolce & Salato sits on Fifth Avenue South in downtown Naples, a few blocks from the Gulf: a crisp, modern Italian boutique-cafe where the food counter is ringed by shelves of coffee, wine and imported goods, and the shared tables fill with late breakfasts. Croissants are baked to order — plain, almond, custard, or split and filled with prosciutto di Parma and mozzarella, smoked salmon and goat cheese, soppressata and gorgonzola. There are oven-baked frittate, egg souffle with smoked mozzarella and bresaola, avocado toast, quinoa and black rice power bowls. Open daily, last seating early afternoon. Morning food, taken seriously.
