Trading as El Atlacat Restaurant under its current licence filing, this Salvadoran kitchen on SW 8th Street in Little Havana has built its name on pupusas, hand-pressed with cheese and loroco and cooked to a crisp edge on the griddle. The wider menu runs deeper, with caldo de res, a coconut-milk seafood soup and a lunch special running late morning into the afternoon. It is one of the few Salvadoran spots in the area with a full bar, and a Monday-through-Friday happy hour draws an after-work crowd. Diners keep coming back for the carne asada and the generous, family-style portions.
