GRILL ON WHEEL – Restaurant

Grill on Wheel does one thing loudly on NE 163rd Street: it wraps a lot of grilled meat in lavash and dares you to finish it. Chicken and beef shawarma come piled with shredded cabbage, tomato, cucumber, carrot, pickles and pickled onion under a garlic sauce that does most of the talking; the kitchen also runs hibachi plates, burgers and loaded fries. It is counter-service casual — no bar, no ceremony, afternoon into evening. The refrain from regulars is portion size: one order routinely feeds two, sometimes three. Cheap, fast, and heavier than it looks.
