La Matera is an Argentinian steakhouse on NE 163rd Street that happens to be strictly kosher, and it takes the parrilla seriously. Seven cuts of bife are on offer, gaucho and tomahawk among them, each with two sides; the Argentinian parrillada arrives on its own miniature grill loaded with mixed meats, vegetables and fries for the table. Before that: four empanadas, green ceviche, tuna tartar, grilled corn, and flatbreads topped with ribeye and mushrooms or tandoori chicken with avocado and tahini. Pareve tres leches finishes it. Serious fire, no compromises on either side.
