Weekend brunch is where the kitchen at Latin Café 2000 has its fun: croqueta Benedict, Cuban eggs Benedict, leche condensada pancakes. The rest of the week it plays the classics dead straight — handmade croquetas with the house dipping sauce, churrasco under chimichurri off the char grill, a shredded-pork-and-Swiss Cuban sandwich pressed on Cuban bread, Cuban coffee whipped to foam. A quarter-century of cooking this food has taught it what to leave alone. Diners keep returning to the same points: fast service, big plates, prices that stay sane. Not fancy. Very good.
