Mandolin Aegean Bistro turned a 1940s house at 4312 NE 2nd Ave into a walled garden strung with lights, and Miami has been booking it ever since. The cooking is Greek and Turkish in equal measure: meze first — roasted beets with tahini yogurt, charred marinated peppers, Greek village salad, mussels in white wine, garlic and oregano — then chicken kebab over orzo pilaf, the spicy Mandolin kebab, lamb chops, whole grilled Mediterranean sea bass. Fresh juices, house-cut fries with garlic yogurt. Diners describe it as the closest thing to an Aegean courtyard in the Design District. Deservedly busy.
