Mornings on Beverly Boulevard smell like Mensch — baguettes, challah and croissants out of the oven from seven, with a kitchen working alongside the bakery case. Founder Yoav Rogel started it because he wanted better bread in Los Angeles, and the almond and chocolate croissants are where most people begin. There's a real breakfast too: challah French toast, a loaded breakfast burrito, avocado toast, lox and cream cheese bagels, eggs with salmon. Everything is kosher — OK certified, cholov yisroel, pat yisroel — and the doors close for Shabbat. Warm room, quick counter, pastry worth the detour.
