The wood oven does most of the talking at Michael Schwartz's Design District room, open on NE 40th Street since 2007 and still one of the most reliably full tables in Miami. The menu turns over with the season around a fixed idea — crudo, house-made pasta, wood-fired pizza, whole local fish and oven-roasted chicken, plus whatever the market gave up that morning. It carries a place in the Michelin Guide. Diners consistently describe it as upscale without ceremony, the sort of restaurant you can book for a birthday or drop into alone at the bar. A genuine neighbourhood classic.
