A small soul-food breakfast counter on NW 17th Avenue that trades on the feeling of eating at someone's grandmother's table. It opens early and shuts in the early afternoon, so it is a morning proposition only. Everything is cooked to order: grits with cheddar, fried catfish, red snapper with scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, smothered pork chops, chicken and waffles, pancakes that come out light. Portions are large and the prices are not. Worth the wait, and there usually is one. Get there before the kitchen calls it a day.
