A Cleveland Street fixture in downtown Clearwater, Mr Submarine — Mr Gyros to half its regulars — has been feeding the neighbourhood for the better part of forty years. The gyro is the reason: seasoned meat carved off the cone, wrapped or plated with hot fries and a Greek salad on the side. Subs and burgers fill out the board, from a meatball sub with provolone to a cheesesteak that regulars ask to have gyro meat added to, plus a pressed Cuban and fried mushrooms. The owner tends to remember your order. Fast, fairly priced, unchanged in the best way.
