Shalom Bakery – Restaurant

Shalom Kosher Bakery is a mother-and-daughter operation on North Arlington Heights Road in Buffalo Grove, baking everything in house in a nut-free kitchen and certified kosher parve - one hundred percent dairy free, which is the reason half its customers drive there. The case runs to Israeli sweets and breads: challah for Friday, Danish cakes, sprinkle cookies, and options that also skip egg. Hours are short and deliberate, mostly mornings, with Friday opening at seven for the Shabbat rush. Small, specific, and very good at the narrow thing it does.
