A bright, scrupulously clean kosher-friendly cafe on Main Street in Flushing, open early and closing before Shabbat on Fridays. The menu runs healthy without being joyless: kippered salmon and avocado sandwiches, tuna panini, butternut squash and tomato soups, margherita pizza, Caesar salad, avocado toast with smashed chickpeas, cold-pressed juices, and a Belgian waffle with strawberries for anyone abandoning the plan. Blueberry cheesecake and a chocolate brownie hold down the pastry case. Portions are generous, plating is careful, and regulars concede the prices are steep but keep coming anyway. Fresh food, made properly, in a neighbourhood that notices.
