A Tamiami Trail smokehouse in Port Charlotte where the ribs are the reason to come: a full baby back rack that gives up the bone without argument. Around it sit brisket with pork belly, smoked chicken platters, smoked spicy wings, pulled pork over a baked potato, brisket sandwiches, sweet potato fries and a rich house mac and cheese. The sampler is the sensible first order. Regulars say the portions run well ahead of the prices and the counter crew is quick and genuinely friendly. The brisket can run light on smoke; the ribs rarely miss.
