WOODY'S BAR B-Q – Restaurant
Woody's Bar-B-Q was founded in Jacksonville in 1980 and still runs two rooms in the city, both working the same slow-smoke formula. Baby back and spare ribs come out of a secret marinade, then get grilled and basted; the Sloppy Woody piles pulled pork under the house sauce and is the brand's most-ordered sandwich. Texas brisket, smoked turkey, mesquite-grilled chicken and the multi-meat Taste of Woody cover the rest, with Brunswick stew, fried okra, corn nuggets and towering cream pies alongside. Diners come back for the smoke and the size of the plate. Unfussy, and proud of it.
