Up a stairwell off Meridian Avenue, MILA opens onto a rooftop of water features, reclaimed wood and nightly fire performance, then serves MediterrAsian plates meant to be shared izakaya-style. The kitchen crosses Japan with the Mediterranean: shawarma wagyu gyoza, spicy tuna crispy rice, grilled octopus skewer with romesco and shiso chimichurri, king crab lobster rice hotpot, black cod in spicy miso, whole grilled branzino. Sushi runs from beetroot maki to A5 wagyu aburi. Cocktails are built as a deliberate sensory exercise. Diners describe an occasion room where the scene runs loud and the cooking still holds its own.
