The section called John Rivers Originals is where the kitchen plays: BBQ street tacos on grilled tortillas, a BBQ quesadilla, the Six Shooter over baked cheese grits, the Messy Pig packed between coleslaw. Sides run southern and unfussy, from fried okra to collard greens to baked cheese grits. Dessert is a coconut bomb or a slab of Texas sheetcake. Regulars come for brisket and leave arguing about sweets.
