AOKI TEPPANYAKI – Restaurant

Tucked inside Dadeland Mall, Aoki Teppanyaki builds a small Kyoto-style village: sixteen teppanyaki tables, an izakaya dining room seating over a hundred, three semi-private rooms and a shochu and sake bar. Chefs arrive in black samurai-inspired uniforms and cook to a flame-and-clatter routine the restaurant openly calls eater-tainment. The grill runs from jidori chicken and chicken gizzards to filet mignon, lobster, foie gras, Kobe beef and A5 wagyu flown in from Japan. Away from the teppan there is sushi, sashimi, tempura and deluxe maki, plus curated whiskies, sakes and artisanal cocktails. Dinner and a show, and the cooking holds up.
