AREPA PLEASE – Restaurant

The Riverside Avenue room is the original, opened in 2018, and it looks the part: Venezuelan artwork on the walls, Venezuelan music on the speakers, colour everywhere. Arepas are the whole argument, cornmeal pockets griddled and stuffed to order. The Queen carries shredded chicken, avocado and mayonnaise; Pabellón layers shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains and queso blanco; the vegetarian Fancy Monkey pairs fried plantains and black beans with avocado and cheese. Tropical drinks and freshly squeezed juices come alongside every order. Doors open at ten in the morning and close at eight. Bright, colourful, generous, and genuinely, defiantly Venezuelan.
