Kosher Chinese on Griffin Road, run under Orthodox Rabbinical Board supervision and built for a community that keeps Shabbat: the kitchen shuts early Friday afternoon, stays dark Saturday, then reopens Sunday. The cooking is straightforward Chinese-American done properly. General Tso's chicken and beef, Szechuan crispy chicken, honey garlic chicken, chicken with mixed vegetables, fried wontons, lo mein and sweet potato fries, with combination plates at lunch and dinner and parve dishes alongside the glatt meat. Diners return for the portions, the fair prices and staff who remember them. For many local families, this is the only Chinese takeout that counts.
