Bagel Boss Miami Beach – Restaurant

One block of 41st Street, one kosher bagel counter, and a queue that forms before eight. This is the Miami Beach outpost of a Long Island bakery founded in 1975, and the technique travelled intact: dough hand-rolled, kettle-boiled, then baked, with the family's flagel flattened and crisped alongside. The appetizing case does the heavy lifting—smoked lox, whitefish salad, baked salmon salad, classic tuna, egg salad and gourmet schmears—and there are pastries, salads and smoked fish sold by the pound to carry home. Closed Saturday for Shabbat, open Sunday through Friday. A New York breakfast habit, transplanted south and done properly.
