BAJA'S SOUTHERN COOKING AND CATERING – American
Black-owned soul food on 49th Street South, run as both a storefront kitchen and a catering trailer working St. Petersburg and Gulfport. The mains board is unapologetically Southern: fried chicken in dark or white meat, smothered chicken, baked chicken, turkey wings, pork chops, meatloaf, gizzards and stuffed salmon. Wings come by the order. Sandwiches run fried catfish, shrimp po-boy, Philly cheesesteak, the Baja burger and the Big G. Tuesdays and Fridays add pasta specials — loaded seafood, steak and shrimp, lobster and shrimp. Salads carry jerk chicken or salmon. Open Tuesday through Friday, eleven to six, and closed on Mondays.
