BERNWOOD TAVERN & CUCINA – Restaurant

A neighbourhood Italian tavern on Collier Boulevard that opens at three and pours happy hour at the bar until six. Chef Ron Casterline, long a Naples caterer, took over what had been an Indian restaurant, and his kitchen leans hard into seafood and pasta: frutti di mare with lobster tail, clams and mussels over angel hair, linguine alla vongole, five-cheese lasagna with ground sirloin, salmon piccata, whole fried snapper, braised lamb rissoles. Start with arancini fra diavolo, grilled octopus, or the house polpette. Diners keep remarking on portions big enough to take home. Terrace seating, a full bar, unhurried service.
