BLACK BUTTERFLY – Restaurant

An all-day brunch room on State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach that calls itself a scratch kitchen and then cooks like it. Shrimp and grits and a smash potato stack lead the popular list; croissants come stuffed with guava and cream cheese, chocolate mousse or creme brulee. Elsewhere there are toasts, banana pancakes, waffles, biscuit baskets, skillets, flatbreads and puffy pockets, plus coffee, espresso and a small cocktail list. Doors open at nine every day and close again by late afternoon. A private back room seats twenty, and after five the space turns reservation-only for quieter, slower evening dining.
