BROADWAY DINER – Restaurant

Six in the morning until half past two, Tuesday through Sunday, on North Broadway Avenue: a Bartow diner that shuts before dinner and packs the whole card into those hours. Breakfast means scratch pancakes and French toast. Lunch brings a classic gyro with tzatziki on pita, a Cuban of pork and ham, a reuben, and half-pound burgers on kaiser rolls, the Broadway Burger under bacon, provolone, grilled onions and barbecue sauce. Beyond that sit hand-cut salmon, crab cakes, beer-battered haddock, meatloaf, country fried steak and a ten-ounce sirloin. Sandwiches arrive with slaw and fries. On Mondays the lights stay off.
